NTA Certifies ACME Panel Co. for SIPs

August 21, 2013

NAPPANEE, INDIANA: NTA is pleased to announce a new listing report for ACME Panel Co. The new listing certifies that ACME Panel Co., of Radford, Va., manufactures structural insulated panels (SIPs) within a quality system that complies with the rigorous standards and best practices of NTA.

When ACME first began working with NTA in 2010, it was under the auspices of a quality system verification (QSV) program. Under a QSV program, NTA verifies that ACME manufactures SIPs under a quality system that complies with the rigorous standards of NTA.

“With a product certification program, ACME SIPs now have rated performance values for their product that are specific to their product. Previously, engineers could only use values that were in the code, accepted for all SIPs. Now they will have a much broader scope of how they can use their panels and how engineers and builders can use their panels,” says Corey Nigh, project engineer at NTA. ACME Panel’s new listing report includes design properties and performance values for SIPs used as walls, roofs, and floors.

NTA worked with ACME throughout the transition, explaining NTA’s role in and involvement with the Structural Insulated Panel Association, as well as performing a gap analysis to custom tailor a certification program that would meet addressable conditions of use for ACME SIPs. “We are very excited to take this large step with NTA and continue our long-term partnership.” Joe Fortier, president of ACME Panel.
