NTA Ready to Assist Truss Manufacturers Regarding HUD Amendments to Test Procedures

November 27, 2013

Truss TestingNAPPANEE, IN: Jan. 13, 2014, is the effective date for the implementation of the final rule from the Department of House and Urban Development (HUD) amending roof truss testing procedures under section 3280.402 in the Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (FMHCSS). The changes to the test procedures were initially issued in the Federal Register on Jan. 18, 2013.

At NTA, we stand ready to help ensure a smooth transition to the amended HUD roof truss testing procedures by providing the following services to our truss manufacturers:

  • We’ve updated the truss inspection forms and our truss inspectors will use them during 4th quarter truss audits. During audit review, inspectors will provide a list of observations. These observations will not require a written response, but must be addressed to assure all homes entering into production on Jan. 13, 2014, are built with trusses in compliance with the amendments.
  • We’ll send all truss clients the updated truss inspection forms to give them an idea what we’ll be looking for when the new testing procedures are implemented.

In addition, we’ve sent our truss clients a letter and one-page overview chart that summarizes the most significant changes to 24 CFR 3280.402: Download it now

We’ve made accessible a copy of the final rule in the Federal Register: Download it now
