Structural Insulated Panel Tests

  • ASTM C393 SIP Panel QA Demonstration. This video covers the method ASTM C393 for core shear properties of sandwich constructions by beam flexure.
  • ASTM E72: Standard Test Methods of Conducting Strength Tests of Panels for Building Construction:
    • Transverse Demonstration. This video covers the transverse method ASTM E72 for conducting strength tests of panels for building construction. A practical example of a real-world transverse load would be the force of the wind blowing directly into the face of a wall.
    • Racking Demonstration. This video covers the racking method ASTM E72 for conducting strength tests of panels for building construction. A practical example of a real-world racking load would be the force of the wind blowing directly into the face of a wall, which pushes it against a wall “T” ed with it.
    • Axial Demonstration. This video covers the compressive method ASTM E72 for conducting strength tests of panels for building construction. A practical example of a real-world compressive load would be the weight of a second story on the walls of a first story.

Formaldehyde Tests

  • ASTM D6007 Formaldehyde Demonstration. This video covers the method ASTM D6007 for determining formaldehyde concentration in the air from wood products using a small-scale chamber. This method is a way to quantify how much newly manufactured panel products contribute to indoor air quality. When equivalency with the ASTM E1333 Formaldehyde Large-Chamber is made, this test can be used to determine compliance with formaldehyde emission limit requirements for CARB and the future EPA toxic control substance act, but not for HUD.
  • ASTM E1333 Formaldehyde Large-Chamber Demonstration. This video covers the method ASTM E1333 for determining formaldehyde concentration in air and emission rates from wood products using a large chamber. This method is a way to quantify how much newly manufactured panel products contribute to indoor air quality and can be used to determine compliance with formaldehyde emission limit requirements for many regulatory agencies, such as HUD and CARB.

  • ASTM E96 Perm Rating Demonstration. This video explains the method ASTM E96 for determining the perm rating or the permeance of a material. This is determined by the amount of water vapor that will diffuse through the material in the presence of a vapor pressure difference.
