The state of Florida will be updating to the 9th edition of their building codes, effective December 31, 2026.
The following codes will be adopted:
9th Edition (2026) Florida Building Code
9th Edition (2026) Florida Energy Conservation Code
9th Edition (2026) Florida Fire Prevention Code
9th Edition (2026) Florida Fuel Gas Code
2023 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70)
9th Edition (2026) Florida Plumbing Code
9th Edition (2026) Florida Mechanical Code
9th Edition (2026) Florida Building Code: Accessibility
9th Edition (2026) Florida Residential Code
The BCIS will allow for the submittal of plans designed to the 2026 Florida Building Code. These plans will not be accepted until the new code cycle begins.
