On January 1, 2020 new mandatory State Minimum Standard Codes went into effect. The new codes include the 2018 I-codes with the exception of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) . New Georgia State Amendments associated with the codes versions were also adopted. This code update included the 2018 International Fire Code (IFC). The Georgia Office of the Safety Fire Commissioner updated their rules to reflect new editions and modifications of the codes comprising the ‘Rules and Regulations for the State Minimum Fire Safety Standards (120-3-3)’.
The memo below includes a link to state modifications to the IFC and other standards included by reference, such as the 2019 NFPA 13 and NFPA 13R.

SUBJECT: Updates to Rules of the Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner
Effective January 1, 2020, the Georgia Office of the Safety Fire Commissioner updated their rules to reflect new editions and modifications of the codes comprising the ‘Rules and Regulations for the State Minimum Fire Safety Standards (120-3-3)’.
To ensure buildings bearing the insignia of the Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs are compliant with all state construction regulations, all buildings shall comply with these updated rules of the Office of the Safety Fire Commissioner.
