New York State Codes and Building Systems Packages 2020

The code update applicable to New York State is fast approaching, effective May 12, 2020 with no grace period. Please reference past code update posts from February 4th, 2020. You can view the official Notices of Adoption:  Recent conversations with the New York Division of Building Standards and Codes provided the following clarification items relating to this code change cycle.

• May 12th, 2020 is the date the new code will be effective with NO grace period.
• Complete Permit sets and Individual Models submitted prior to this date will be accepted/reviewed and approved to the current (2017 NYS Uniform Codes) code.
• Building Systems must be updated for the new codes and be submitted and approved prior to May 12th to continue completing permit sets for the new code change.
• Any homes submitted May 12th and beyond must be to the new code, any manufacturer that does not have there building systems updated by this date, each model will need to be an individual model approval until the building systems is approved.
• Local officials could require updated plans to the new code if a building permit has not been secured prior to May 12th even if the permit set was approved before this date.
• NYS Insignia will be issued based on the Code to which a Permit Set or Individual model was approved
