Recently, it was announced that the 2020 NC Electrical Code (2020 NEC with 2020 NC Amendments) will become effective on October 1, 2021. Therefore, effective October 1, 2021, when certifying Code Compliance to the current North Carolina State Building Code, whether on the certification cover letter, the submitted plans, or on the building’s Data Plate(s), the 2020 NC Electrical Code must be referenced. Thus, as of October 1, 2021, any NC Electrical Code reference year other than 2020 (whether on the third-party cover letter or on the manufacturer’s plan submissions) will not be considered valid. Please make necessary corrections as soon as possible.
