Oregon Code Change Update to OSSC, OMSC Became Effective October 1

November 16, 2022

The following code editions have been adopted by the State of Oregon and became effective October 1, 2022. Prefabricated structure Design Master Plans will be impacted by these code changes.

2022 Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC)
The 2022 OSSC is based on the 2021 International Building Code, 2021 International Fire Code (new construction provisions), 2021 International Existing Building Code, and Oregon specific amendments.

Important: The accessible design compliance requirements in Chapter 11 of the OSSC for the design and construction of accessible buildings and facilities has been updated from the ICC A117.1 2009 edition to the 2017 edition, and includes several new and revised technical requirements.

2022 Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code (OMSC)
The 2022 OMSC is based on the 2021 International Mechanical Code, fuel gas provisions of Appendix C from the 2021 International Fuel Gas Code, and Oregon specific amendments.

A six-month phase-in period has been established. The phase-in period began October 1, 2022 and ends March 31, 2023.
