Webinars to Help Manufacturers, Installers, and Sellers Comply with MA Appliance Standards

On January 1st, 225 CMR 9.00 prohibited the sale or installation of certain models of the following products:

  • commercial kitchen appliances (hot food holding cabinets, fryers, ovens, steam cookers, and dishwashers)
  • computers and computer monitors
  • electric vehicle supply equipment
  • high CRI (color rendering index) fluorescent lamps
  • plumbing fittings and fixtures (showerheads, faucets, toilets, and urinals)
  • portable electric spas
  • residential ventilating fans
  • spray irrigation sprinkler bodies
  • water coolers

Manufacturers, sellers (wholesale and retail), and installers have an obligation to comply with this law. Violating this law could result in daily fines as defined by MGL c. 93A (The Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act). If you manufacture, sell, or install a product covered by 225 CMR 9.00 (the regulatory standards are listed on this chart) and it is not on this list, it cannot be sold or installed in Massachusetts as of January 1st!

You can find detailed instructions for how to comply on the DOER website under the titles Compliance for Appliance Manufacturers and Compliance for Sellers and Installers.
