Off-Site/Modular Construction Code Updates


New Georgia Code and Amendment- Effective January 1, 2025

The Department of Community Affairs has adopted one mandatory State Minimum Standard Code and one new Georgia State Amendment which will become effective on January 1, 2025. The new code and amendment are as follows:

2025 Amendment to the 2018 International Building Code

Missouri Modular Building Code Changes
November 25, 2024

Several updates and changes have been made to the Missouri Code of State Regulations governing modular units Chapter 123 – 20 CSR 4240-123. Prior approved existing modular units will be valid until May 30, 2025. Effective November 30, 2024, new codes were adopted, and all new modular unit models must be constructed to the criteria set forth in the 2021 International Building Code, the 2021 International Plumbing Code, the 2021 International Mechanical Code, the 2021 International Fuel Gas Code, the 2021 International Residential Code, the 2021 International Energy Code and the 2020 National Electric Code NFPA 70 NEC.

North Carolina 2024 Building Code Mandatorily Effective 7/1/25
September 19, 2024

North Carolina Building Code Council at their 9/10/24 meeting, the 2023 NFPA 70 (2023 NC Electrical Code, 2024 NC Residential Code and 2024 NC Administrative Code and Policies will be mandatorily effective 1/1/25.

The 2017 NFPA 70 (2017 NC Electrical Code) is effective for buildings and structures included within the scope of the 2018 NC Residential Code through 12/31/24.

The 2020 NFPA 70 (2020 NC Electrical Code) is effective for buildings and structures not included within the scope of the 2018 NC Residential Code through 12/31/24.

The 2018 NC Administrative Code and Policies is effective through 12/31/24.

New Mandatory State Code and Georgia Amendments Effective January 1, 2025

Notice of Intent to adopt new Mandatory Stade Code and Georgia Amendments, Effective January 1, 2025.

The State Codes Advisory Committee (SCAC) met on July 25, 2024. The SCAC recommended that the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Board adopts the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC) with no amendments and the 2025 amendments to the 2018 International Building Code (IBC). The Notice of Intention to Adopt, Synopsis, and proposed Georgia Amendments are available for review on the Georgia Department of Community Affairs website (Link Below).

The Vermont 2024 RBES Went Into Effect July 1, 2024

On July 1, 2024 the 2024 RBES went into effect and applies to construction commenced on or after that date.

The RBES code book and Handbook are nearing completion and an online “view only” version of the RBES Code Book will be available soon on the International Code Council Website. In the meantime, here is a link to view a draft copy of the 2024 RBES Handbook, and a link to the redline version of the 2024 RBES code language. Ohio Board of Building Standards Adopts Updates to Boiler and Elevator Rules

At its meeting on May 31, 2024, the Board of Building Standards adopted updates to Ohio Boiler & Elevator rules effective July 1, 2024.

The Board initiated the rule change process in September 2023 and the rules have been available in draft form on the Board’s website. Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry Amendment to Rules Governing Adult Changing Stations

Minnesota Rules parts 1341.0011, 1341.0603, 1341.0613 and 1341.0902

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry intends to adopt expedited permanent rules regulating adult changing stations as a part of the Minnesota State Building Code.
