One item covered in the newsletter is the adoption process for the 2018 I-Codes and the administrative requirements of the State Building Code. The Construction Codes Advisory Council (CCAC) met June 21, 2018, to review a report from Technical Advisory Groups about seven of the 2018 I-Codes and the administrative requirements of the State Building Code. The final regulations for the 2015 Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC), 2015 Virginia Amusement Device Regulations (VADR), and the 2015 Virginia Industrialized Building Safety Regulations (IBSR) have been approved by the Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development with an effective date of September 4, 2018. The envelope tightness test, commonly referred to as “blower door testing,” required by the “Residential Provisions” of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (2015 IECC), as modified by Part 3 of the2016 Supplement to the State Energy Conservation Construction Code (2016 ECS). The Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC) has assembled an Electrical Technical Committee (ETC) to review the 2017 Edition of the NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (2017 NEC).
