Find the memo below regarding the adoption of the 2020 National Electrical Code effective 8/1/2020 for units under the Factory-Built Structures program. In follow up to the post on 08-12-2020, the Colorado State Electrical Board updated Rule 1.2 to include the adoption of the 2020 National Electrical Code without amendment, effective on August 1, 2020. This code update does apply to the Factory-Built Structures program, however rule (8 CCR 1302-14 2.5) applies allows for a transition period of 180 days after the effective date. (Read More..)
The State Codes Advisory Committee (SCAC) met on January 30th, 2020. It recommended that the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Board adopt the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) with Georgia Amendments, the 2018 International Existing Building Code (IEBC) with Georgia Amendments and 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) with no Amendments. The State of Colorado Electrical Board has adopted the 2020 NEC effective August 1, 2020. You have 180 days per the Administrative Rules to transition from 2017 to the 2020 NEC. You may also request a one-time extension in writing if you can’t complete the transition within the 180 days.
