Please see the attached memorandum regarding mixed-use structures within the city of Philadelphia. The City of Philadelphia adopted the 2018 ICC codes and this created an issue when constructing units with other than Group R sections being placed within or on top of the structure while being constructed to different code versions. They had several discussions with the City of Philadelphia and came to a conclusion when constructing this type of structure. The State of Colorado Electrical Board will hold a Stakeholder Meeting to receive feedback on the proposed rule changes to Rule 1.2, which includes the adoption of the 2020 edition of the National Electrical Code. The code update applicable to New York State is fast approaching, effective May 12, 2020 with no grace period. Please reference past code update posts from February 4th, 2020. The Ohio Board of Building Standards will convene for a public hearing in accordance with Chapter 119 of the Revised Code at 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 27, 2020 in Hearing Room #1, at 6606 Tussing Road, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 43068. The purpose of the hearing is to solicit testimony on proposed changes to select rules of the Administrative Code identified as Amendments Group XCVIII (98) and XCIX (99) pursuant to Chapters 119., 3781., 3783., 3791., and 4104. of the Revised Code. On January 1, 2020 new mandatory State Minimum Standard Codes went into effect. The new codes include the 2018 I-codes with the exception of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) . New Georgia State Amendments associated with the codes versions were also adopted. This code update included the 2018 International Fire Code (IFC). The Georgia Office of the Safety Fire Commissioner updated their rules to reflect new editions and modifications of the codes comprising the ‘Rules and Regulations for the State Minimum Fire Safety Standards (120-3-3)’.(Read More..)

The Ohio Board of Building Standards (OBBS) received a request to update the edition of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) referenced in the Ohio Building Code from the 2017 to the 2020 edition. Prior to consideration, the Board directed staff to conduct a stakeholder meeting and education forum on the changes included in the 2020 edition and their potential impact if adopted. Comments and input from stakeholders impacted by the changes will be recorded and considered by the Board’s Code Committee. A Stakeholder Meeting and Education Forum on the 2020 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) will be held on March 9, 2020, all interested stakeholders are invited to attend.(Read More..)
